Broadcaster Sayuri has shared a heartbreaking update on her recent struggles.
On the 25th, Sayuri posted on her personal account, "I have severe enteritis. And I passed it on to Jen. I’m sorry, Jen."
The accompanying photo showed a bag of medicine she received from the hospital, as well as Jen, who appeared to be unwell and sleeping. Sayuri reassured her followers by adding, "I’ll get better soon."
Previously, on the February 15th episode of MBN’s Sokpuli Show Dongchimi, Sayuri revealed her past financial difficulties.
She shared, "There was a time when I only earned 1.5 million won (approximately equal to $1,045 USD) a month because I didn’t have a regular program. I don’t have a credit card, and since I’m a foreigner, I can’t get a loan. I couldn’t even break my savings because I had to pay taxes. My manager lent me 500,000 won at that time, and I was so grateful."
She continued, "I also have to pay my aunt, who lives with me. At one point, I went to a gold shop in Myeongdong to sell my son’s ring, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. It was a week before payday, and I only had 150,000 won left in my account. I prayed on my phone for money to come in. Then, when I finally received some money, I bought clothes and beef for my son and was able to cover my living expenses. That was the first time I thought, ‘There is a God.’"
Sayuri also reflected on her past perceptions, saying, "I used to think celebrities were lying when they said they had no money. But when they don’t, they really don’t have money."
Following this revelation, Sayuri also shared that she now dyes her hair herself instead of going to a salon to save money.
