On February 12, Kim Ha Neul's father approached reporters and clarified his previous request asking Jang Won Young to attend his daughter's funeral.
Hanuel's father approached the reporters who were at Ha Neul's funeral and spoke to them clarifying that he had no intentions of pressuring Jang Won Young to come. He explained, "My request for IVE’s Jang Won Young, whom Ha Neul loved, to come and see her was truly just a request, not a demand. As a father, I simply wanted to show my child, who is now a star in the sky, the person she dearly admired and longed to see. But seeing articles recklessly labeling it as a ‘controversy over coercion’ makes it even harder to bear.”
Earlier, Ha Neul's father made a request during a press conference stating, "One request I have is that an IVE wreath has arrived, but Haneul made me promise that if IVE held a concert in Daejeon, she would definitely attend. As I mentioned yesterday, Ha Neul’s dream was Jang Won Young herself. If possible, I know you are busy, but if there’s any chance, please come to see Ha Neul."
His request prompted online users to flock to IVE's social media page to leave comments further asking Jang Won Young to pay tribute to the late elementary student. This sparked a debate in various online communities where many netizens believed Ha Neul's father's request was too much.
