When netizens searched for the former SISTAR member's name on popular portal site Naver, they've noticed that her birthday has changed.

When she was under Starship Entertainment, her birthday was listed as January 30, 1990.

However, it has now changed to December 30, 1989. The change occurred soon after the news of her contract with Hook Entertainment

Netizens confused by the sudden change asked, "Why did it change all of the sudden?", "Did she lie?"

Bora has always introduced herself as a fast 90; meaning she was born in the earlier months of the year 1990. Bora appeared on KBS 2TV's 'Challenge! Golden Ladder' before her debut and introduced herself as a class of '09 musical major at Myongji University. If she was born in 1989 and enrolled in college right after graduating high school, she would've been in the class of '08. She would have been in the class of '09 if she was born in the year 1990. However, she's close friends with Girls' Generation's Hyoyeon, Tiffany, and Taeyeon, who were all born in 1989. It's revealed that they just decided to be friends even though Bora is technically a year younger since Bora has an early birthday.

Is appears the birthday change could just be a mistake that was made by whoever is in charge of her Naver profile.

I love how the first question is "did she lie?" Instead of "Was it a mistake?" People trying to make drama out of the smallest things -.-

badjainna Tuesday, June 27, 2017

It's just one month.

sheldon_egg Tuesday, June 27, 2017

well it must be difficult to be born at the end of a year with korean jerarchy. But come on, it was practically 1990

I understand and respect that this might be important in the Korean Culture but doesn't this prove that age maybe shouldn't be so important and doesn't change who you really are. There seems to be so many rules and exceptions to  those rules.

tfw you're korean but the early birthday stuff still confuses you bc they got rid of it but people in their 20's still use it

Some newer fans might think why so much fuss about a month difference but that Dec-Jan transition does make a big difference in Korea. Just because of how the age system works as well as the whole oppa-unni-donsaeng/hoobae-sunbae relationships. I know this personally bc I'm a fast 91er and I have friends who are born in 90-91. No one calls me unni/noona in that age bracket and neither do I to them, but as soon as it gets to Jan-Feb 90 birthdays, I start calling them unni/oopa. And correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it's only Jan and Feb because the school year starts in March in Korea and cutting it that way would roughly make unni-oppa-dongsaeng and sunbae-hoobae relationships the same.

From what I remembered, it's based on the Lunar Calendar. So it depends on when the Lunar New Year of that particular year. So sometimes it's Jan or Feb.

Thanks for the input! I think you might be right. Well.. I think the school system was probably adapted on the lunar calendar basis so that's why it's like that.
