He made the below post to Instagram on November 26:

"Hello. This is Nam Tae Hyun.
I'm sorry to have such disappointing news
for everyone who's loved me.
There were a lot of things that happened
within this time, which could be defined as short or long.
I was very happy to have received such great love
as Nam Tae Hyun of WINNER.
We came to this decision after a long meeting,
but I haven't changed my mind about doing good music.
I'll return with good music and projects.
Stay healthy in this cold weather.
I sincerely thank everyone who's supported me.
Posted by Nam Tae Hyun."

Nam Tae Hyun's leave from the group and agency comes after YGE announced his hiatus, which he was taking due to reported mental health issues.

How are you handling the news?

I'm quite disappointed, to be honest. Very sad. I would have like to see more of Taehyun with WINNER, but I look forward to any future promotions that Taehyun will be doing.

mattlarpy Sunday, November 27, 2016

All the best Taehyun for whatever you choose to do in the future. We support you and Winner. So many people bashing YG but you guys have no idea what happened at YG so stop blaming him. If Tae decided to leave respect that. Don't blame someone unless you have real facts. we should be thanking YG for letting him rest with his family. Instead he could of told him to leave straight away. Also don't you guys feel sorry for the other Winner members not knowing when they'll be able to comeback? They have to wait for Taehyun. It could've taken months or years before he's better. Winner fighting!! love from Australia forever :)

shyloone mattlarpy Monday, November 28, 2016

Exactly my point, but people dont like to believe idols action make decisions themselves sometimes

shyloone Monday, November 28, 2016

and yes noone even considered how all the other winner members felt , the fact they waited this long to comeback, when they suppose to comback in october, but they must expect the rest of the members to wait for lord knows how long, but yes i hope he gets the help he needs and gets better soon

fairytaeil Sunday, November 27, 2016

im so sad nnhngnhh good luck taehyun bab

infinitecharlo Sunday, November 27, 2016

Wow, i'm quite shocked. Winner won't be the same without him, sigh :(

sefius Sunday, November 27, 2016

sick of that YG bullshit im sure.

controlURtempeh Sunday, November 27, 2016

Dear Tae Hyun, may your road to recovery be a smooth one, and may you return stronger than before doing what you love most. Talent can never truly be stifled. Stay healthy and be happy. P.s. Your writing's beautiful.

DZico controlURtempeh Sunday, November 27, 2016

the mental issue thing is only excuse to kick him out , he not mental ill .

ggiakh DZico Sunday, November 27, 2016

any proof to back your claims up?

DZico ggiakh Sunday, November 27, 2016

do you have any proof that taehyung have mental issues ?

ggiakh DZico Sunday, November 27, 2016

He said it himself , so did his company, and i am not saying anything to refute that, i am just genuinely wondering if you are just assuming or you really have some inside on this , that probably non-fans don't know

DZico ggiakh Sunday, November 27, 2016

when did taehyun say that he have mental illness??? , he said he wanted to sing , he wanted to be singer , he wanted to release songs , he didn't say he was sick .

DZico ggiakh Sunday, November 27, 2016

it's YG who claim Taehyun had mental issues and blamed Winner hiatus on it

ggiakh DZico Monday, November 28, 2016

Honestly there's a very thin line between lying about mental illness for some other reason(s) and simply not wanting to accept the fact that he probably has an issue. I genuinely hope that you are correct on this and he doesn't truly suffer from that, but it would be so unlikely to lie about illnesses just to kick someone from a group (Yg could fire anyone anytime for any reason why would they lie about something so serious? who knows)

Funky_Angel Sunday, November 27, 2016

Thank you... You writing up a post like this makes it hit harder that it really is the end. I came to like the other members because of you so I'll continue to support the other members too... Your absence will be sorely missed. As your fan, I'll believe in you and wait. Whether it's music or anything else, I'll be waiting for you

mr_a Sunday, November 27, 2016

Where is the 2ne1 thread? Why is it gone?

Hyungshi Sunday, November 27, 2016

YGE pissed me off so bad atm... he clearly got kicked out of the band, he deserve help and break and let time decide if he fits for a come back later on, noooo YGE rather just terminate the contract telling him to pack he back with Park Bom and leaves. I can't stand YGE anymore.

9001reasons Hyungshi Sunday, November 27, 2016

If people are going to complain about yg artist not doing enough comebacks, they can't complain about members getting kicked/groups getting disbanded if they aren't able to meet those deadlines anymore.

Mayumi_Jupiter Sunday, November 27, 2016

Is his mental issues that hard to handle (rehabilitation is not enough) that he needs to leave the group and YGE?

Hyungshi Mayumi_Jupiter Sunday, November 27, 2016

it's all YGE fault, one less artist to feed during the recovery time, so they rather just kick him out along with Park Bom simple as that.

abthurd Mayumi_Jupiter Sunday, November 27, 2016

yes. tbh I don't think entertainment environment is good for his recovery at all. I'm not a fan of WINNER but lets be real, the environment is so unhealthy that he's not the first person who had this issue. If I'm not mistaken Dongho from Ukiss also had depression and he decided to leave kpop for his own good. What he needs now is people that are close to him. If WINNER's members really provide comfort for him, I don't think his issue would have fallen to this state at the first place. For this case I didn't blame YGE at all. Even if YG didn't ask him to leave, I still hope he leaves for his own good. He can do much much better when he's better. Just look at Tablo.

abthurd Mayumi_Jupiter Sunday, November 27, 2016

also mental issues is not a simple problem. Some people take years to do better. It depends on the environment, the outlook, the treatment, their inner peace. That's why being in the entertainment is the worst thing for his recovery. His recovery is probably being bogged down by his guilty feeling for the group. Letting go of it is the best for him, At least for now it is. There is no other way to look at it.

bangeryun94 abthurd Monday, November 28, 2016

Dongho had a heart condition and had already had major surgery. I'm sure that contributed to depression but he left because of a serious physical condition.

sarangmatcha abthurd Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Do we know for sure that it's depression that he's suffering from, and not some other mental illness? I think a lot of us are worried that "letting go" ISN’T necessarily the best course for him, and that the choice was made without his input. I agree that the entertainment industry MIGHT be bad for his recovery, but from the posts on his soundcloud (etc), it seems like a place he still very much wants to be. I just don’t like people assuming that people with depression and other mental illnesses can’t hack it out in the real world. We can. If depression really is the issue here, and it’s been present since childhood like YG’s statement says, leaving the group to go “recover” is a mighty tall order…a lot of people NEVER recover. It’s a chronic illness (for some) that they’ll have to live with every single day of their life. You talk about Taehyun leaving to get “better”…he might never get “better”. Instead, he can find ways to cope, and to minimise his suffering, and one of these ways might have been through music. Anyway, maybe leaving WAS his idea. Let’s hope so!

abthurd bangeryun94 Wednesday, November 30, 2016

dongho stated it himself in his latest show. About a dog or something. He said depression is also one of the reason he retired from kpop industry. You can check the show. They interviewed him.

abthurd sarangmatcha Wednesday, November 30, 2016

depression and other mental illness always has a trigger. For him maybe the industry itself is a trigger. Like I said, he may not agree with the decision of him being pulled out, but it's not that easy to cope. You don't just say to a person with a mental illness "to cope". Their mind is completely different from us. I'm pretty sure his doctor, family and even yg himself has discussed this in detail with him. And YG didn't ask him to pay for any breaching of contact. They nullified the contract. He will get better. But mental illness is not something that you can cure. Like I said, just look at Tablo. Since the fans said he's very talented, you guys need to give him time. He will come back if what the fans said are true. You never know about the future.

bangeryun94 abthurd Wednesday, November 30, 2016

I watched it. If I had discovered that I had a physical condition that was going to keep me from performing the dance routines that U-Kiss. performed when he got sick I'm sure that I would be quite depressed also.

bangeryun94 sarangmatcha Wednesday, November 30, 2016

You speak as if it's already proved it's depression. Speaking as someone who's been on meds for bi polarism for years I'm willing to bet a year's salary that it's something much more serious. If he has been taking medicine and went off because he can write and compose better off them, that's serious. We can all speculate, and I am certain more and more of us will do that, especially since he deleted the letter.
