Though he was proved innocent in the sexual assault case, Lee Jin Wook still has much to answer for in the incident's aftermath.

Reports were released on August 25 stating that an outdoor apparel brand that Lee Jin Wook had entered into a contract with is demanding indemnification from the actor for the losses they suffered following the sexual assault case. The brand could not use any of Lee Jin Wook's prints or ads, and they were forced to discard all other forms of advertisements with the actor's face prominently displayed on them.

Lee Jin Wook signed an exclusive contract with this brand earlier in the year, and it was reported that he was paid around 400 million KRW (~$358,304 USD) for the deal.

In an attempt to offset its loss, the company sent a document demanding compensation from Lee Jin Wook.

The brand stated, "We have sent a document to Lee Jin Wook regarding the expenses occurred for the breach of contract which he must compensate. We plan to enter negotiations with him."

That's not his fault at all. They should the girl or sues the media for prematurely making it such a big issue. He seem to me is the only real victim in this case. He was falsely accused of a terrible crime, now he's being sued for almost a half a million dollars. He just can catch a break.

They are barking up the wrong tree. They should be asking the woman for compensation.

Maybe the company compensate due to his broken image. I mean, yes he was cleared but still he had sex with the random girl which damage the image of him and the brand that he promoted. Maybe..

yeah..I think so

HE didn't breach any contract.  The company panicked, chose not to give him the benefit of the doubt and now want him to pay up for being the victim of a vicious lie.

It *may* be that the business firm involved did have some kind of 'MORALITY CLAUSE' in the contract. Saying that IF some kind of 'negative publicity' took place related to LEE JIN WOOK, that the firm has the right to ask for REASONABLE FINANCIAL COMPENSATION as a result. Also, LEE JIN WOOK *may* have insurance that 'covers' him (so pays off) in this type of situation too. NO IDEA on any of it though. And yes, it *seems* to me that LEE JIN WOOK can 'counter argue' that the firm involved did "PANICK" as you stated it. In terms of their actions to 'pull' his advertising of their product. But, what I am arguing is that the business firm did *likely* hire LEE JIN WOOK on the basis that he was going to remain 'squeaky clean' from a *morality* standpoint. Which, that did *not* take place exactly. So, what I am arguing, is that this business firm involved seems to me to be NOT complete 'scum' somehow to want financial compensation in this situation. Although again, YOUR view that the firm did OVER REACT and "PANICK" may be a COMPLETELY VALID one.

You have a completely valid and excellent argument. I concede to all points you made.

krell bangeryun94 Thursday, August 25, 2016

The situation is just UNFORTUNATE for both sides (the business firm and LEE JIN WOOK) involved. Which, the woman involved with her FALSE accusations on LJW is *likely* FINANCIALLY LIABLE in this situation too. Of course, she has NO MONEY to 'go after it' either! ... ;-)

krell bangeryun94 Thursday, August 25, 2016 ... <-- I am reminded of the situation where SUZY did replace LEE BYUNG HUN on NESCAFE COFFEE boxes via a STICKER! ... ;-)

Um ok thats really stupid! It's not like he went to the girl and asked her to accuse him of sexual assault. It's not his fault. If you want compensation ask the liar who filed carelessly without any evidence and again damaging an innocent persons reputation. You know its people like this that seriously ruin it for people that are actually going through with something like this.

Don't tell me people aren't hurt but these controversies. Even the controversies that don't have potential criminal charges. If a celebrity loses a CF contract or even worse has to pay because they need to go into hiding, they lose money. Maybe have a difficult time getting jobs in the future. Korea isn't like Hollywood, in Hollywood if you're good they'll keep working you. Robert Downey Jr. is a prime example. No matter how many times he got arrested during his addiction days he still worked because he was a damned good actor.

I would guess overall that S.KOREA is *less* forgiving about drugs and other morality offenses than US Hollywood (Entertainment Industry) is. But I would *not* say use "indifferent" to describe the attitude in the USA about drug or morality problems. And in S.KOREA, rapper E-SENS did win an important ALBUM OF THE YEAR award (2015), even though he was (still is) in prison for illegal drug usage activity.

Ummm how can you demand compensation from him over an accusation that he was cleared of. If you want compensation get it from the girl who accused him. It's not his fault that he was wrongly accused. How is being accused of a crime you never committed a breach of contract.
