On July 18, 5urprise's Gong Myung was one of the guests on KBS2's 'Hello Counselor'.

One female high school student who sent in her story for this episode touched everyone in the panel and in the audience with her difficulties. A senior in high school, she told the audience how she's working part time in multiple jobs to support her father, who recently got divorced with her mother. Her father is too busy going out every night and having fun, even taking money from his daughter to go play screen golf.

Unable to hide his disdain, Gong Myung shed tears, saying, "She's the age for needing to be loved the most but she isn't being loved as much as she deserves it."

Some of the audience members in term showed tears at the high school student's story, ultimately giving her the 1st place on the episode.

" turn..."

neoncolors_0 Monday, July 18, 2016

Am I the only person who has a problem with this show on SO MANY LEVELS? Counselling and therapy is entirely about professing all your inner demons, heartache, whatever to someone who is willing to listen and provide advice. How is someone supposed to be honest with THEMSELVES, let alone the world, when they're being blasted across national television? Like how honest can you get with yourself and what's the extent of the details you can give without being judged by society?

Nobody is judging this young woman but they're certainly judging her Papa. Now his behaviour is public. And perhaps he'll be shamed and get a bloody job where HE is the parent and she can be a child.

neoncolors_0 bangeryun94 Monday, July 18, 2016

Yep, I agree that publicizing the dad's problem will induce a change in behaviour, but at the same time, how much of what she said he said is detailed enough (cuz remember, there's a limit to what you can say on national tv, plus editting) for hosts, the audience, and all of korea to make any judgement or suggestion. And how long will the change in behaviour last? Just until media attention blows past? Then that's not good counselling at all.

She was probably encouraged by people at her school to appear. She seems to have a support system. And as far as I'm concerned I only care about her well being. Hopefully this gives her courage to stop enabling him.

Hopefully. But when you put yourself outthere on national tv like that, the reaction from the public can drive you in unexpected directions.

bangeryun94 neoncolors_0 Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Sure if you believe the misconception that all Koreans are heartless assholes who know nothing.

neoncolors_0 bangeryun94 Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Aren't all netizens then...?

I understand that a lot of people would be upset at the dad but let's be mindful that divorce is a very painful and hard thing and his dad's way of coping for the pain was to go out and have fun in order to escape his reality. He was probably too hurt to notice how hard his daughter is working for the both of them. I know that's a lame excuse but still. Maybe he wasn't like this before the divorce and was actually a good father. Idk. I do hope too that he'll get his senses back and recognize all the hardship his daughter is going through for them and give her the love she rightfully deserves.

this is never an excuse. if you decide to have a child you must know that the child's well being ALWAYS comes first before your needs and feelings. since you brought life into this world you're responsible to take care of that living being. if you can't do that much just refrain from having babies. it's not that hard to do, we're not living in middle ages dammit ^^

wtf if he can't provide for her and she has to be the one to go and provide for them two, shouldn't he at least be thankful? it would be ideal for her to gtfo of the house when she graduates in 6-7 months or so, but i'm sure she has a weak spot since he's her father and all. hopefully he comes to his senses. i feel so bad for her

You're uglier 🔫

Keepinitkreal Monday, July 18, 2016

I'm sorry but fuck your father. Don't enable him. You're making money to support y'all. Honey, move out and go to school so you can better yourself for you and do better by yourself.

SaVanityVan Monday, July 18, 2016

Why would she stay with her father? Ad why would her mother allow such a man to raise their daughter? I can't imagine the mother is worse... if so god help this poor child.

bangeryun94 SaVanityVan Monday, July 18, 2016

The mother left because the father wouldn't work.

SaVanityVan bangeryun94 Tuesday, July 19, 2016

That seems like all the more reason for the mother to take the daughter with her. I haven't seen the episode, so idk how old she is, but if she's a minor she definitely shouldn't be with her father.

bangeryun94 SaVanityVan Tuesday, July 19, 2016

The treatment of women in Korea has been discussed here often. She might have done it out of desperation to make him grow up. She might have done it because there was someone interested in her who didn't want her child around or the stigma of being divorced with a child that she had to support. At any rate I think she did it out of selfishness with certainly no concern for her child.

SaVanityVan bangeryun94 Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Well, if that's the case, then that's awful. It'd be good if she had grandparents she could live with or something. Ordinarily, I'd say she should save up as much as she can and move out as soon as she's legally able, but from what I understand rent is quite high in Korea and the average young person can't afford to move out on their own by their own means so... Hopefully things work out for her, or she can find someone to help her.

NANATHEGHOUL Monday, July 18, 2016

that must've been very hard on her

taichou_san Monday, July 18, 2016

no wonder the wife ditch him...damn idiot...but the daughter should follow the mother...why stick around with that kind of father...

abby_music_99 taichou_san Monday, July 18, 2016

Im guessing her mother left her, if she did love her she probably would have taken her with

For having a heart?

micahxo_lu dyimanawe Monday, July 18, 2016

They're probably saying that because he kissed a guy while acting in this movie, it was a part of the script. Pricks like Kweens will never get over homosexuality.

bangeryun94 SistarMyKweens Monday, July 18, 2016

It's been my experience that people who use that word are often closeted themselves. It's the 21st century. Come out of the closet, admit you are gay and start living an honest life. Your user name begs for acknowledgement.

InvisibleBBC02 SistarMyKweens Monday, July 18, 2016

You sound like a 12 year-old. Grow up.

bangeryun94 InvisibleBBC02 Tuesday, July 19, 2016

Hoobae, where you been gurl? Missed you.

I don't get over there much. My personality is a bit too cheeky.
