On May 3 airing of talk show 'Pumpkin Seed', one guest attempted to advise Kim Gu Ra to get back together with his ex-wife.

The guest said to Kim Gu Ra, "[Kim Gu Ra] has a soft heart behind his snarky remarks. Try to get back together with Dong Hyun's mom again."
To this, Kim Gu Ra replied, "I'm an adult too. Stop it. It's not like I refuse to see her now or anything like that. I talk with her over the phone, and when I'm not home, she visits Dong Hyun. When she has issues, I help her out. You're talking about something completely beside the point. She has to go on with her own life, and I have to go on with mine."
Kim Gu Ra divorced his wife of 18 years back in August of 2015.
