'M! Countdown' explained why f(x) and EXO didn't perform like they were scheduled to for the August 15 episode.
When 'M! Countdown' released their performers' list on the 14th, both EXO and f(x) were on the list. However, neither group showed up to perform on the day. 'M! Countdown' explained, "When the staff choose artists, a change of the line-up is very frequent. Singers are put on and cancellations can occur right up to the time of the performance. EXO and f(x) were one of those cases."

However, the explanation hasn't convinced many of the fans, who found it bizarre that both SM Entertainment artists were pulled out at the same time.
