Bae Yong Joon who was given the honorific name of Yon-sama in Japan because of his past enormous popularity there has been given a unique birthday present by his Japanese fans. On August 29th, Bae Yong Joon celebrated his 37th birthday and one of his fan clubs in Japan (PESASA) donated around 9,400,000 won (around $7500) to the Lee Soo Hyun (LSH) Asia Scholarship fund. The LSH Asia Scholarship fund supports Korean students in Japan by help paying their tuition. For those that don't know who Lee Soo Hyun is, he was a Korean student studying in Japan. In January of 2001 he selflessly gave his own life to rescue another as he jumped onto a subway track to rescue a drunken Japanese man who had fallen over, Lee was struck by a train and was unfortunately killed. Bae Yong Joon was said to be taken back by this gesture and his representative thanked fans for their generosity. Thanks to our friends at K-POPPED for sharing the information.
