Mnet’s new variety show 'Idol Festa Attack' kicked off its first broadcast on August 12 KST with TXT in the city of Gwangju, introducing a unique format that combines K-pop performances with local specialties. The program’s concept — having idols visit various regions to sell local products and perform — had already generated buzz before airing.
In the premiere, the TXT members completed a series of missions to discover their destination, eventually revealing Gwangju. With guidance from rapper DinDin and a surprise call from BTS’s J-Hope, the group began selling Gwangju’s signature product, zucchini, for 990 KRW (~0.7 USD), which also served as a concert ticket. Through pop-up sales, school visits, and active street promotions, the members managed to sell over 3,100 zucchinis, with proceeds donated to local development.
The group's special promotional concert at the Gwangju outdoor music hall saw fans waving zucchinis as light sticks, while TXT performed hits like “Deja Vu” and “Miracle” in front of a larger-than-expected crowd. Fans praised the event as both heartwarming and memorable.
The next episode will feature NCT DREAM in Andong, selling apples as part of the tour’s ongoing mission to blend entertainment with regional promotion. 'Idol Festa Attack' airs every Tuesday at 10 PM KST.
