Gaming idol girl group AQUA make their debut with 'Log In'!

New project idol gaming girl group AQUA made their debut today, on the 17th of November, with their title track "Log In". Log In was produced by producer team ZigZagNote, who have produced songs in the past for names such as BTS, TWICE and APink.

The group consists of both trainees and already debuted idols. Na Seungji and Kim Hyerim form a duo together as LimeSoda, while Hyerim is also known for being the runner-up in 'Kpop Star 6'. The trainees are Produce 48's Yoon Haesol, MIXNINE's Kim Sihyun (Music Works), MIXNINE's Baek Hyeonju (upcoming girl group OAHSIS, formerly known as SeeArt) and Produce 101's Yu Sua (OAHSIS).

These girls all have one thing in common: they all love gaming and that's why they were chosen to be part of this group. AQUA is supposed to be a reaction to shift in demand from the public. eSports have become very popular and the demand is rising. By combining idol activities and gaming activities, gaming company Actoz Soft hopes to appeal to both Kpop fans and gamers.

AQUA will promote under Actoz Soft's subsidiary Actoz Stars for both their idol and gaming promotions.

Somebody else already tried doing this like two times if I remember correctly for the League of Legends tournament. They were all pretty girls that liked LoL but they only played supports and only 2 (or so) were actually good at the game the first time and the second time it still seemed like they were catering more to an audience rather than just joining for the sake of gaming. So while I have nothing against a gamer girl group existing (and I definitely think we need more girl gamers in these events), this still just, once again, feels like an excuse. I do like the song though. But I also think K/DA did it better xD

Definitely need a more hyped song like K/DA, you know something gamers can actually listen to

As soon as the song started, I felt like I've heard a very similar beat before. I know it's not the same thing, it just reminded me of that song right away. It just has a similar vibe.

"They love gaming" so they are called a "gaming" IDOL group? great. now ACTUAL gamer girls are going to be looked down on EVEN more and NEVER going to be taken seriously.

They are called a 'gaming' idol group, because they will promote as both gamers and idols, debuted under a gaming company and have a gamer as manager from a professional gaming team. I doubt they were chosen because they have a slight interest in gaming.

I saw a lot of bad comments about this group and I must admit that I don't really understand why. I was anticipating Aqua's debut because of OAHSIS and Limesoda and I'm not disappointed. The mv is low quality but the song is really good. Yes they are a e-sports idol group, but while the e-sports side is important and must not be neglected, they are IDOLS. It doesn't matter if their song is not focused on e-sports, what matters is having a song that idols fans may like and also promote in gaming events and be actually good at gaming.

I think that for now, it's way too early to judge them as gamers, they did nothing as an e-sports group. But I have faith in them and the fact that they have a gamer manager shows that they at least tried to do things correctly so we'll see.

As idols, anyone who follows a bit survival shows/underrated girlgroups knows that all of these girls are really talented. For visuals I'll let you judge but while not having outstanding visuals, they are far from being ugly. So they are doing their idol job correctly.

One thing sure, I'll keep supporting them and I hope that people will support AQUA but also the girls' respective careers

The song isn't that bad to be honest, but the MV quality is a bit.... I personally have never heard of "Gaming" idols so to guess the concept is fresh/new, but I honestly don't see this lasting long

I like this debut, the song is good, and they are pretty, hope to get to know their talents more. Why do I feel like I've seen them before? Did they participate in anything on tv before?

To me, this is a complete failure.

If you look at the success of K/DA's Pop/Stars, going the cutesy way in the gaming world is NOT the way to go.

Also, I don't think we're seing the same girls as I find most of them to be average but all in all very far from pretty...
