Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates is set to appear on the popular South Korean variety show You Quiz on the Block, hosted by Yoo Jae suk.
On August 18, tvN confirmed, “Bill Gates, a globally renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, will appear on You Quiz on the Block during his visit to Korea this August.” The exact air date has yet to be announced, but the episode is scheduled to broadcast later this month.
Nam Seung yong, a key executive at CJ ENM, explained the significance of the appearance:
“You Quiz on the Block is a program that values all forms of life and conveys human dignity and mutual understanding through diverse personal stories. This aligns closely with the Gates Foundation’s core belief that ‘every life has equal value.’”
He continued, “We are honored to host Bill Gates, a figure who connects the world through technology and transforms it through philanthropy.”
Bill Gates, known for ushering in the personal computing era, now dedicates his efforts to global health, education, poverty alleviation, and climate change initiatives through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Recently, he pledged to donate 99% of his personal wealth—an estimated $200 billion including foundation funds—back to society by 2045.
This rare appearance on Korean television is already garnering excitement, as viewers eagerly await the conversation between one of the world’s most influential figures and Korea’s top national MC, Yoo Jae suk.
