IVE's Wonyoung and Jeon Jong Seo were voted stars whose images worsened after participating in ceremonial first pitches or kick-offs at sporting events.
According to a survey conducted by community portal DC Inside from August 11 to 17 under the question, “Which star’s image worsened after doing a first pitch or kick-off?”, Wonyoung ranked first.
Out of a total of 9,755 votes, Wonyoung received 1,756 votes (19%), placing her at the top. On July 30, she performed the ceremonial kick-off and halftime show at the first game of the 2025 Coupang Play Series.
Her outfit during the kick-off sparked controversy, with critics saying it was too short and revealing. In response, group member Rei explained through a fan communication platform that the members had each requested to have their outfits modified to their own preferences.
In second place was actress Jeon Jong Seo with 1,430 votes (15%). She threw the ceremonial first pitch at the Major League Baseball World Tour Seoul Series last year. Appearing in leggings, she drew mixed reactions — some calling her outfit inappropriate and embarrassing, while others said she looked fine — sparking heated debate.
IU ranked third with 1,268 votes (13%). Active as both a singer and actress, she took the mound for the ceremonial first pitch at Game 5 of the 2010 KBO playoff semifinals. With her signature playful expressions and gestures, she revealed afterward that she hadn’t received proper pitching guidance at the time and instead got tips from actress Hong Soo Ah, who also appeared at the game.
Others who followed in the rankings included Lee Seung Hoon, Aiki, and Kevin of The Boyz.
