When it’s blistering hot outside, all you want to do is spend your time indoors where it’s cool, but fear not, for these seaside towns are so beautiful that you’ll be out the door in a snap.
1. Gangneung
While it’s freezing cold in the winter season, during the summer, Gangneung is one of the best places to visit. Widely known for Gyeonpo Beach and, of course, the Anmok coffee street, Gangneung is also a great spot for anyone who wants to give surfing a go.
2. Sokcho
You’ve probably heard of Sokcho many times, but this beautiful town is the gateway to Seoraksan Mountain, Sokcho Beach, and you can’t forget all the fresh seafood markets too.
3. Pohang
Pohang wasn’t on the map of must-see places until more recently after the drama series ‘Hometown Cha Cha Cha’ made a destination spot. But within this small seaside town lies the Homigot Sunrise Plaza and Yeongildae Beach.
4. Yeosu
It might a ways out of Seoul, but Yeosu is such a romantic seaside town with Odongdo Island and Dolsan Bridge, it’s far worth the trip to go because after visiting you’re going to want to stay there a day more.
5. Tongyeong
Known as the “Naples of Korea,” Tonyeong is full of islands, seafood, and scenic ocean views.
6. Mokpo
Home to NCT Wish Sion, Mokpo is a harbor city that offers a wide range of beautiful coastal views and access to various islands as well.
7. Boryeong
More well known as the city that hosts the annual Mud Festival, Boryeong is a great place for anyone looking to have a beach trip. Go visit Daecheon Beach and you’ll have one of the best beach days ever.
8. Jeju Island
Jeju Island is a must go to beach town, and the great thing is, it’s just a short flight from the mainland. So you can go there early in the morning and return to Seoul that very night.
