Super Junior member Ryeowook opened up about his feelings of guilt following a recent fan accident during one of the group’s concerts.

On April 7, Ryeowook shared a lengthy post on his personal Instagram, stating, “First of all, I wanted to explain the situation to our ELFs. From the moment the accident happened, I felt an overwhelming sense of responsibility for the friends who were hurt.”

He continued, “I kept thinking that it was my fault the fans got injured. Did I get too close to the fans? Could I have done something to prevent the fall? For a moment, my mind just froze from regret and shock.” He added, “I’m not someone who thinks quickly in such situations, and I felt foolish for freezing like that. If it looked bad to anyone, I apologize. But I’m grateful that the ELFs who know me well understood and reassured me.”

Ryeowook also shared that he spoke with the injured fans at the hospital. “Even while in pain, they were worried about me and even cried, saying I should feel less sorry. I won’t forget that,” he said. “In over 20 years since my debut, I’ve never experienced an accident like this right in front of me. It was really hard for me, but I’m incredibly thankful that no one was seriously hurt… and I’m grateful to the ELFs for their care and comfort.”

He concluded, “Above all, we’ll continue to meet our ELFs safely, so Super Junior will pay more attention to safety. Let’s all stay safe and enjoy our time together for a long time.”

The accident occurred on April 5 at the KSPO Dome in Songpa-gu, Seoul, during Super Junior’s concert. Towards the end of the show, Ryeowook approached the audience to interact, and some fans crowding the area caused a temporary fence to collapse, resulting in a fall.

Three attendees were injured and transported to a nearby hospital, receiving medical advice for sprains and bruises with a recommended two-week recovery period. In response, SM Entertainment issued a statement early the next day, expressing “deep apologies to the victims and their families. We will support the injured fans’ treatment and do our utmost until they fully recover.”

The agency added, “As the concert organizer, we fully acknowledge our responsibility for this incident and will conduct thorough safety inspections and management to prevent any recurrence.”

Reports indicate that Ryeowook personally visited the hospital to check on the injured fans. One fan shared on social media, “Right after the accident, Ryeowook and Siwon immediately came down. Another member also came to check on us. Even after the tests were done and everyone left, Ryeowook stayed to wait.” The fan urged others not to criticize the members, saying, “They are genuinely warm people. Don’t cut the story and criticize them unfairly.”
