Song Min Ho, a member of the group WINNER, has drawn scrutiny for attending a public film event while awaiting trial for alleged military service law violations. According to a report by My Daily on March 15, 2026, the artist attended the VIP premiere of the film 'Method Acting' on March 13 at the Megabox in COEX, Seoul. The appearance was intended to support his close friend, actor Lee Dong Hwi, who plays the lead role in the movie.
While attending a premiere to support a friend is a common practice in the industry, the timing of his public appearance has raised questions due to his ongoing legal proceedings. Song Min Ho is currently facing charges of violating the Military Service Act. The first hearing, presided over by Judge Sung Jun Kyu at the Seoul Western District Court, is scheduled for April 21, 2026. The trial was originally set for March 24 but was postponed after the court accepted a request for a delay filed by his legal representative.
The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office indicted Song Min Ho without detention in December 2025. He is accused of insincere service while working as a social service agent at a facility in Mapo-gu between March 2023 and December 2024. The charges include chronic negligence of duties and unauthorized absences. Prosecutors allege that Song Min Ho was absent without permission for 102 out of 430 scheduled work days. Although the artist's side initially denied the allegations, it has been reported that he admitted to most of the facts after evidence of his outings during work hours was brought to light.
