XG has issued a statement regarding the sudden arrest of its agency CEO, Simon, also known as JAKOPS, on suspicion of drug possession, drawing a clear line between the group and the case.
On February 24, XG shared a message via its official social media channels, saying, “We sincerely apologize for the concern and inconvenience caused to our fans and related parties due to the recent reports.” The group added, “A police investigation is currently underway, and we are fully cooperating. We would like to make it clear that XG has absolutely no involvement in this matter. We will continue to prioritize the safety and mental and physical well-being of our artists and provide them with full support.”
On the same day, the members of XG also addressed the situation directly, stating, “We are also feeling great shock and confusion over this sudden development as we try to process what has happened. Once again, we are reminded of how much your presence means to us and how much strength you give us.”
They continued, “Just as we always have, we want to sincerely focus on our music and dedicate ourselves to our activities as XG. We hope to cherish each and every opportunity moving forward and continue walking alongside you.”
The group concluded, “XG will continue to move forward as XG. We would be grateful if you could continue to watch over us with warmth.”
According to Japanese local media reports on February 23, Simon (39, Simon Junho Sakai), who founded the label XGLAX and launched XG, and singer-producer Chancellor (39, Michael Kim, Korean name Kim Jung Seung) were arrested in Japan on suspicion of drug possession.
In response, JAKOPS Co., Ltd. released an official statement on February 24, saying, “We take seriously the concern caused to many people regarding the arrest of our affiliated producers (Simon and Chancellor), as reported by some media outlets.”
The company added, “We are doing our utmost to confirm the facts related to this matter and are sincerely and actively cooperating with all ongoing investigations. As specific details have not yet been confirmed, we will provide additional statements promptly and transparently once the facts are verified and the situation is clarified.”
