SHINee's Minho enjoyed a special dinner meeting in Milan with short track speed skating gold medalist Kim Gil Li.
Minho recently uploaded a video titled 'Meeting Olympic MVP and two-time short track gold medalist KIM Gilli' on his personal YouTube channel, Choi Minho. In the video, the two met at a restaurant in Milan, Italy, where they shared a meal and talked about everything from Kim’s Olympic gold medals to the upcoming Milan Winter Olympics.
Reflecting on her first Olympic appearance, Kim said, “I was so nervous that my body did not move the way it usually does in practice. Thankfully, after my first race, I was able to relax.” She also revealed how she first started short track skating. “My mom’s friend’s daughter was learning figure skating at Lotte World, so I went to watch. I said I wanted to try it too, and my mom signed me up, but it turned out to be short track. I did not even know at first,” she said with a laugh.
Impressed by her strength on the ice, Minho asked, “Were you always that powerful? You seemed to pass all the other athletes.” Kim responded, “Since I am smaller in size compared to many international athletes, I worked hard on weight training so I would not fall behind.”
Kim added that the dinner was a meaningful moment for her. “This is my first time eating out since arriving here. I have been eating at the athletes’ village the whole time, so this is my first meal outside,” she shared.
During the meal, Kim took out her gold medal, drawing applause from nearby diners and creating a warm atmosphere. Holding the medal in his hands, Minho expressed his admiration, saying, “It is heavy, but it is incredibly impressive.”
