Comedian Park Na Rae is expected to appear for police questioning after the Lunar New Year holiday, as she faces multiple allegations including abuse of power toward a former manager and illegal medical practices.

On February 17, police announced that the Seoul Gangnam Police Station plans to summon Park Na Rae for questioning as a suspect on charges of violating the Medical Service Act and inflicting special injury. She had originally been scheduled to appear for questioning on February 12 but abruptly postponed the date, citing health concerns and fears of potential safety incidents.

Meanwhile, her former manager, identified as Ms. A, was questioned by police on February 10 at the Seoul Gangnam Police Station in the capacity of a complainant. It was also reported that Ms. A previously underwent a second round of questioning on February 9 at the Seoul Yongsan Police Station as a defendant.

In December of last year, former managers filed complaints against Park Na Rae, alleging workplace harassment, special injury, proxy prescriptions, and unpaid business expenses. In response, Park Na Rae countersued the former managers on charges of attempted extortion, further escalating the conflict. Her side stated, “After receiving their severance pay, the former managers additionally demanded an amount equivalent to 10% of the company’s annual revenue from the previous year. As time passed, they continued to add new claims and applied ongoing pressure.”

The controversy deepened when Park Na Rae was accused of receiving intravenous drips outside of a hospital setting from an individual known as “Injection Aunt,” identified as Ms. B, raising suspicions of illegal medical treatment. Ms. B, who is accused of providing illegal procedures for several years to celebrities including SHINee member Key and mukbang YouTuber HAETNIM the short mouth, has reportedly completed police questioning on charges of violating the Medical Service Act, the Act on Special Measures for the Control of Public Health Crimes, and the Narcotics Control Act.

Amid the ongoing investigation, some in legal circles have suggested that Park Na Rae could face a prison sentence if the allegations are substantiated. Last month, attorney Jang Hyun Oh, head of SK Law Firm, stated in a video on his channel, “In the case of the special injury charge, whether a settlement is reached with the victim will be key. When considering the multiple allegations together, there is also the possibility of imprisonment,” adding, “If the situation proceeds as it is, a prison sentence is possible.”
