Musical actor couple Kim Sohyun and Son Junho shared heartwarming news over the Lunar New Year holiday, donating their entire prize money after winning a special broadcast of ‘Woorimal Battle.’
On February 17, their agency PALMTREE ISLAND announced, “Kim Sohyun and Son Junho became the 8th honorary master for the first time in four years on the Lunar New Year special of KBS 1TV’s ‘Woorimal Battle,’ which aired on February 16. They subsequently donated the full 10 million KRW (approximately 6,929 USD) prize to the Seoul National University Hospital Children’s Hospital School.”
The couple expressed their gratitude, stating, “We are even more thankful to have achieved such a meaningful result during the Lunar New Year, a time when we reflect on the importance of family and the value of our language. Since it was prize money we received together as a couple, we decided to donate it in hopes that it would be used for a meaningful cause.”
The donation will be used to support educational and experiential programs at the Seoul National University Hospital Children’s Hospital School, helping children undergoing treatment for pediatric cancer and leukemia continue their studies and find emotional stability.
Established in 1999, the Children’s Hospital School is an officially recognized attendance-accredited institution that supports school-aged patients receiving long-term treatment. Certified secondary school teachers and lifelong education specialists work on-site alongside volunteer instructors to operate various educational programs and assist students in maintaining their academic progress and returning to regular school life.
Previously, the couple participated in the ‘Hanwoori Garden’ fundraising benefit concert held in 2024 at the Performing Arts Center in Federal Way, Seattle, donating their entire appearance fee. They have continued to practice steady giving and sharing, spreading positive influence through their ongoing charitable efforts.
