The Korean and global fan union of Kim Soo Hyun carried out a meaningful act of giving in celebration of the actor’s birthday.
On February 16, the Kim Soo Hyun fan union announced that they donated 100 million KRW (approximately 75,000 USD) to the Korea Heart Foundation in honor of the actor’s birthday.
The donation was voluntarily organized by fans who resonate with Kim Soo Hyun’s long standing commitment to philanthropy and volunteer work. The entire amount will be used to support surgery costs for children suffering from heart disease who are facing financial difficulties.
The donation holds deeper significance in light of the actor’s personal history. Kim Soo Hyun previously underwent surgery due to a heart condition and was initially classified as Grade 4 during his first military physical examination. However, through continuous health management and reexamination, he was reclassified as Grade 1 in 2017 and enlisted for active duty. He later fulfilled his mandatory military service faithfully, leaving a strong impression on the public.
Reflecting on the actor’s sense of responsibility and determination to overcome challenges, the fan union decided to commemorate his birthday not merely with celebration, but with a meaningful act of sharing. They specifically chose the Korea Heart Foundation to provide tangible support to patients suffering from heart disease.
A representative of the fan union stated, “Fans from around the world came together to make Kim Soo Hyun’s birthday more meaningful. We hope this donation will bring hope to many patients currently undergoing treatment for heart disease.” The representative added, “We plan to continue supporting the actor while also carrying out activities that spread positive influence in society.”
