Actress Hwang Bo Ra has issued a public apology after facing criticism for promoting a group purchase using a staged traffic accident scenario.
On February 13, Hwang Bo Ra said, “Hello, this is Hwang Bo Ra. I sincerely apologize for my lack of judgment regarding the previously uploaded group purchase promotional video.”
She continued, “I apologize to those who felt uncomfortable. I will reflect on my actions and make sure this does not happen again. Once again, I am truly sorry,” reiterating her apology.
On February 11, Hwang Bo Ra posted a promotional video for purchasing macadamia nuts on her personal social media account. However, the video sparked controversy as it opened with a dramatized traffic accident scene.
In the clip, she appeared to be driving at night and screamed as if she had suddenly been involved in an accident, creating a tense and alarming atmosphere. The mood quickly shifted when she smiled brightly and asked, “Would you like some macadamia?” before promoting the nut product available for group purchase.

The promotional approach drew criticism for being inappropriate, ultimately prompting her apology. In particular, Hwang Bo Ra faced heightened backlash as she had previously had her driver’s license revoked due to drunk driving, leading many to question her decision to use such a concept for product promotion.
