Singer Sohyang has issued a public apology after facing criticism over her performance of "Golden."
On December 31, Sohyang took the stage on KBS’s ‘2026 Countdown Show Right Now’ alongside HYNN (Park Hye Won) and Youngbin, performing "Golden," an OST from Netflix’s ‘K-pop Demon Hunters’.
During the opening section of the performance, which Sohyang led together with Youngbin, some parts reportedly went off-key early in the song. Rather than achieving full vocal harmony, Sohyang’s distinctive vocal tone stood out prominently, drawing mixed reactions from viewers.
After the performance video was uploaded to KBS’s YouTube channel, some netizens left harsh comments such as “It’s too much,” “I was shocked watching this live,” and “None of the notes match.”
When one commenter criticized her by saying, “She’s drunk on high notes and just shouting,”
Sohyang personally replied in the comments, writing, “You’re right… I ruined everything… I’m very disappointed in myself,” offering a direct apology.
Sohyang later addressed the issue again on her own YouTube channel, posting, “Happy New Year, everyone. ‘Golden’… I really didn’t do well. But through this, I realized once again that this voice belongs to God. When I use it out of my own desire, I can only be powerless.”
She continued, “It became an opportunity for me to once again resolve to be used humbly as the Lord’s instrument. Please pray for me.”
