Former LE SSERAFIM member Kim Garam is currently receiving increased attention.
On March 13, Garam officially opened her own YouTube channel, titled 'garamonly.' The channel immediately attracted widespread attention, reaching over 10,000 subscribers in only one hour. Garam's first video sparked further interest, as she expressed her desire to share clips of her acting practice and daily life with fans.
Only one day after Garam's YouTube channel was created, 'garamonly' has already reached over 134,000 subscribers, with that number continuing to grow. In addition, Garam's first and only video 'ep. 01' has already reached almost 600,000 views.
Garam's return to the entertainment industry has quickly gone viral. While many fans are showing their support for her endeavor, her return has also sparked some harsh reactions from K-netizens. A recent trending post criticized Garam's rise in YouTube popularity, with hundreds of netizen comments bringing up Garam's past 'school bullying' controversy. Further, Garam's first YouTube video also quickly gained thousands of angry comments from netizens.
"Wow—a school bully with 100,000 subscribers? What has this country come to?"
"Whoa, why would anyone watch this???"
"No matter how you look at it, she literally committed school violence"
"If she had truly reflected on her actions, she wouldn't dare show her face like this, if only out of shame"
"She received a Level 5 school violence disciplinary action, that's a massive deal. I have to wonder what kind of lives the people who are still fans of her are living"
"Just what exactly must she have done to receive a Level 5 disciplinary action for school violence?"
"The people who still like this 'school bully girl' are really something else.."
"People ignorantly cheer for Min Hee Jin, who committed workplace abuse; and male idols who committed school violence are still active, making money, and receiving support from fans. So, it IS kind of unfair that Kim Garam is the only one who doesn't get any words of encouragement, isn't it? Haha"
"Are there really 100,000 people fawning over someone guilty of school violence?"
"This is so toxic. We need to show people that school violence leads to total ruin; otherwise, they won't stop doing it..."
"Sure, posting YouTube videos is a matter of personal freedom, but I believe that a person who committed school violence can never fully pay for their sins—even if they get cursed at until the day they die, haha. What kind of logic is it to say, 'Well, she got kicked out of the group, so it's okay now'?
"I bet a lot of her new subscribers are foreign fans"
"People like this shouldn't take jobs that put them in the public eye"
"Life must be pretty easy for her"
"In this country, it seems like you can get away with anything just by being pretty... sigh"
"Putting everything else aside, her mental strength is truly remarkable..."
