The film 'Once We Were Us', starring Koo Kyo Hwan and Moon Ga Young, continues its strong box office momentum, ranking No. 1 at the Korean box office for five consecutive days and drawing close to 500,000 moviegoers.
According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing network, ‘Once We Were Us,’ which opened on December 31 last year, has recorded a cumulative audience of 493,122. During its opening weekend, the film surpassed ‘Zootopia 2’ to place No. 2 overall at the box office. Over the same period, it also outperformed major Hollywood releases such as ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ and ‘Zootopia 2’ in seat occupancy rates, selling out theaters nationwide and highlighting the growing popularity of realistic romance films among audiences.

Amid competition from large-scale Hollywood blockbusters, ‘Once We Were Us’ is holding its ground through emotional relatability and strong word of mouth, key strengths of Korean cinema. The film continues to post high seat occupancy rates and is gaining traction among a wide range of male and female viewers who have long awaited a mature, grounded romance. CGV’s Golden Egg Index has remained at an impressive 97–98% for five consecutive days, reflecting high levels of audience satisfaction.
‘Once We Were Us’ tells the story of Eun Ho (Koo Kyo Hwan) and Jung Won (Moon Ga Young), former lovers who reunite by chance after 10 years and revisit the traces of their shared memories. With natural on-screen chemistry and nuanced emotional performances, the film is drawing audiences into a heartfelt mix of empathy, romance, and reflections on time gone by.
