The film 'No Other Choice,' directed by Park Chan Wook, failed to secure a nomination at the British Academy Film Awards.
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) announced the nominations for the 79th BAFTA Film Awards on January 28. 'No Other Choice' did not make the final list of five nominees in the Non-English Language category.
The final nominees in the category included 'It Was Just an Accident' (Iran), 'The Secret Agent' (Brazil), 'Sentimental Value' (Norway), 'Sirât' (Spain France), and 'The Voice of Hind Rajab' (Tunisia France).
'No Other Choice' was also excluded from all major categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and acting awards. Lee Byung Hun likewise failed to secure a nomination for Best Actor.
The film had previously earned three nominations at the Golden Globe Awards but did not win any trophies. It also failed to advance to the final shortlist for the International Feature Film category at the Academy Awards.
Netflix’s animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' also did not receive a BAFTA nomination. It was reported that the film did not meet eligibility requirements, as submissions must have been commercially released in the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, 'Begonia,' directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, earned nominations in five categories, including Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. The film drew attention as an English-language remake of the Korean cult classic 'Save the Green Planet!,' directed by Jang Joon Hwan.
The 79th BAFTA Film Awards ceremony will be held on February 23 at the Southbank Centre in London.
