Celebrity chef Son Jong Won, often dubbed the “idol star of the culinary world,” has shared a glimpse of his special encounter with actor Jo In Sung.
On January 21, Son took to Instagram to post photos from a premium whisky brand’s new product launch event held at a venue in Seoul.
In the released images, Son is seen standing shoulder to shoulder with Jo In Sung, flashing bright smiles alongside one of Korea’s most renowned actors.
In his caption, Son wrote, “I attended a launch event celebrating the Year of the Horse together with actor Jo In Sung,” adding, “I was pleasantly surprised by how warmly so many people welcomed us.” He continued, “It was a fun occasion where I even shyly asked for a selfie with him after a long time, and we had the chance to talk about whisky with various media outlets.” His words hinted at a long-standing acquaintance between the two.
Despite standing next to a famed heartthrob, Son confidently showed off his sharp visuals and model-like suit fit, reinforcing his reputation as a “visual chef.” Fans responded enthusiastically, leaving comments such as “I can’t believe the chef doesn’t get overshadowed next to an actor,” and “This pairing is everything.”
Meanwhile, Son Jong Won is one of Korea’s top Michelin-starred chefs and is currently enjoying widespread popularity through his appearance on JTBC’s culinary competition show “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,” where he showcases refined cooking skills in high-level culinary battles.
