One of the most notable moments during the holiday season is being able to not just receive gifts, but to give them. Granted, gift giving is also one of the most stressful tasks yet most rewarding, and if you’re looking to spread the love of gifts to fellow K-Poppers, well, here’s a gift guide for you.
1. Custom-made Photocards
Let’s face it, PCs are the core of any kind of album unboxing. Who will you pull? Your bias or your bias wrecker? It’s a nerve-wracking moment indeed. However, grant your friend or family a collection of custom-made PCs instead! Grab a collection of some of the best photos that you can find of their bias and then downsize it, print it onto some thick photo paper, and next thing you know, you can create an entire album of custom-made PCs!
2. Plushies
Now, while this may be personal preference, there are fans who don’t really enjoy the merchandise with the ultra-big band logo. It might be too daunting to wear because it makes it obvious that you’re a K-pop fan. If you have a friend or family member who’s like this, then the better alternative, give them something cute, yet still supports the fellow artists. The best way? Plushies! As many idols upon their debut tend to release their own customized characters. These characters are then often turned into plushies or keychains. So you can still support your idol wherever you go!
3. Lightsticks
The beautiful designs, a lightstick is a must-have for all K-pop fans. It’s not just limited to use at a concert, but you can even use a lot of them as beautiful nightlights! I mean, have you seen G-Dragon’s lightstick? It’s a perfect addition to anyone’s room decor. Albeit they are a bit pricey, what better way to support your favorite groups than a lightstick of the fandom?
4. Photocard Charms and Keychains
Photocards, also known as PCs, are precious merchandise. But they’re so flimsy, it takes a lot of care to maintain the PCs to be like new. But with the photocard charms and keychains, not only does it provide you a way to carry around your PCs with no worry of damaging them. But it also adds a nice touch to your other accessories.
5. Fan-Made Art
Nothing like supporting your favorite idols, but also fellow K-pop fans. You get the best of both worlds, and let’s just say having a custom piece of art is really one of a kind. There are so many talented K-pop fans that it’s going to be hard to just pick one.
6. Perfume
You’ve all seen those ‘What’s In My Bag’ clips where K-celebrities show their most used and loved daily items. Always, one thing that all the idols have in their bags is a bottle of their favorite perfume. While perfumes are pricey gifts, they last a long time, and most perfumes that the idols choose smell incredible.
7. Magazine Catalogs
As these are limited in quantity and aren’t reprinted, catalogs or magazines such as ‘Elle Korea,’ ‘Vogue Korea,’ and ‘GQ’ make great gifts, as these magazines' photo shoots have some of the best photos around. We cannot forget to hype that came with BTS Jungkook’s ‘GQ Korea’ photoshoot, but now imagine that catalog on your coffee table. It’ll make a nice addition for sure.
8. Albums
It’s never wrong to just go with the basics, and a classic album makes a great gift. If you’re looking to really amp it up, try searching for an autographed album by the idols themselves!
9. Tour Merch
Another gift that’s more on the limited edition side, tour merch gives a unique twist to gift-giving. K-pop fans know just too well how quickly tour merch gets sold out. And lots of times it’s rare to be able to see that merchandise again as each tour goes by.
10. Concert Tickets
Saving the best for last, you can never go wrong with gifting concert tickets. I mean, who would deny? Free tickets, and you get to see your ultimate group! Just be aware, though, while many idols do go on tour, you’re going to have to get the timing right, as most idols don’t tend to go on tour during the winter season, instead opting out to go on world tours during the spring and summer.
