Broadcaster Park Mi Sun has courageously shared her ongoing battle with breast cancer, once again stressing the importance of early medical checkups. Facing illness with calm honesty rather than fear, her story has left a deep impression on viewers.
Park appeared on a recent episode of tvN’s variety show ‘You Quiz on the Block,’ where she opened up about how she first discovered the disease. She explained that an ultrasound exam in February had shown no abnormalities, leading her to worry less afterward. However, she later decided to go through with a scheduled full health checkup in December, despite briefly considering canceling it.
“That decision saved my life,” Park recalled. “I almost didn’t go, but something told me I should. If I hadn’t, the cancer would have gone unnoticed.”
She candidly revealed that she has not yet been declared cancer free and that her treatment is still ongoing, requiring continuous management. Even so, Park maintained her trademark positivity, saying that the support she has received has given her strength to endure.
A profile photo taken right after shaving her head deeply moved viewers. Despite her shaved hair, Park was smiling brightly, her expression reflecting resilience rather than fear.
Park later shared the full process of cutting her hair ahead of her second round of chemotherapy through her YouTube channel in a video titled ‘Wise Treatment Life-2, Sending Off My Hair.’ She explained that she chose to shave her head in advance because watching her hair fall out would be even more painful. True to her personality, she kept the mood light, taking playful selfies with filters and flashing peace signs at the salon.
At the same time, she admitted the emotional weight of the moment. “When my hair first got shorter, it really hit me that I was sick,” she said. “So I told myself it was for a drama role, to help steady my mind.”
After her hair began falling out two weeks into chemotherapy, Park cut it even shorter before ultimately shaving it all off for the third time. While calmly commenting on hair filling the bathroom drain, she continued to face the situation with composure. When her daughter compared her look to Furiosa from ‘Mad Max,’ Park laughed and said she might recreate it as a parody.
As of now, Park Mi Sun has completed 12 rounds of chemotherapy and 16 sessions of radiation therapy, and she continues with medication treatment. In the video description, she left a heartfelt message: “Exactly 14 days after my first chemotherapy, my hair started falling out. I decided to record this moment. To everyone fighting illness right now, please stay strong.”
Choosing laughter over tears and composure over fear, Park Mi Sun’s candid journey has become more than a personal record—it stands as a message of hope and encouragement to countless others.
