Actor Song Joong Ki has confirmed his next project just two months after wrapping up his previous drama, drawing attention for his swift return.
Song Joong Ki recently received an offer for the new drama ‘Love Cloud’ (working title) and is positively reviewing the script, having effectively decided to appear in the series.
‘Love Cloud’ is a romantic comedy about Kang Woo Joo, a former flight instructor, and Ahn Ha Nee, a trainee pilot, who reunite seven years later in Jeju Island, where both love and weather take on a mystical quality. The two meet again as an air traffic controller and a pilot, and their reunion unfolds into a heartfelt love story. The drama will be directed by Song Min Yeob, known for KBS2’s ‘Youth of May’ and the series ‘High Cookie,’ while the script is penned by rookie writing team Mad Rabbit.
Song Joong Ki will star as Kang Woo Joo, the male lead and a former flight instructor turned air traffic controller. Coming just two months after the conclusion of JTBC’s ‘My Youth’ in October, the project marks a notably fast follow up. Viewers are already anticipating how Song will interpret a flight instructor and controller character, a role he has never portrayed before.
Casting for the female lead, reportedly a well established actress active in both dramas and films, is currently underway, with filming scheduled for next year.
Song Joong Ki made his debut in the 2008 film ‘A Frozen Flower’ and has since built an impressive career through hit dramas such as ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal,’ ‘Deep Rooted Tree,’ ‘The Innocent Man,’ ‘Descendants of the Sun,’ ‘Arthdal Chronicles,’ ‘Vincenzo,’ ‘Reborn Rich,’ and ‘My Youth.’ His filmography includes ‘A Werewolf Boy,’ ‘The Battleship Island,’ ‘Space Sweepers,’ ‘Hopeless,’ ‘My Name Is Loh Kiwan,’ and ‘Bogota: City of the Lost.’
This year, Song met fans through fan meetings held in both Korea and Japan, reaffirming his global popularity. In 2023, he announced his marriage to former British actress Katy Louise Saunders along with the news of her pregnancy, and he is now the father of two children.
