Actor Lee Yi Kyung has effectively stepped down from the variety program ‘Brave Detectives 4.’
According to an exclusive report by YTN Star on December 24, Lee Yi Kyung has decided not to participate in further recordings of TCAST E Channel’s crime variety show ‘Brave Detectives 4,’ which he had been appearing on.

As a police investigation into allegations surrounding his private life is currently underway, Lee Yi Kyung and the production team reportedly agreed that he would halt filming until the investigation results are released, effectively confirming his departure from the program.
As a result, Lee Yi Kyung will no longer appear on the show starting from this week’s broadcast. The production team plans to invite various substitute guests through the end of January to provide commentary on the cases, and it has been confirmed that actor Seo Bum Jun will appear on the December 26 episode. Seo Bum Jun previously appeared on the December 12 broadcast, where he was noted for his steady and reliable commentary.
‘Brave Detectives’ is a program that follows the case journals of detectives who fight crime to protect the safety of everyday citizens. Since its first season premiered in April 2022, the show has reached its fourth season and continued to receive strong support from viewers. Lee Yi Kyung had been a cast member since season 1, contributing to the program’s balance with his calm and measured delivery.
Meanwhile, Lee Yi Kyung became embroiled in a controversy over his private life in October, after a woman identified as “A,” who claimed to be German, posted messages and photos on her blog that she alleged were exchanged between herself and the actor. Lee Yi Kyung’s side strongly denied the claims, stating that the posts were false, and filed a criminal complaint with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul against the individual responsible for writing and distributing the content.
Lee Yi Kyung later addressed the issue on his social media, stating, “A person claiming to be German, whose identity and existence are unclear, repeatedly appeared and disappeared, similar to when threatening emails were sent to my company several months ago. A few days ago, I visited the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul to give my statement as the complainant. Once the warrant is issued, the suspect will soon be identified.”
Although Lee Yi Kyung has consistently maintained that the allegations regarding his private life are false, he previously stepped down from his fixed cast position on MBC’s variety show ‘Hang Out With Yoo.’ After his departure, he clarified that it was not a voluntary decision but rather the result of a recommendation to step down, which sparked further controversy. With his effective exit from ‘Brave Detectives 4,’ the only variety program Lee Yi Kyung currently appears on following the controversy is SBS Plus and ENA’s ‘I Am Solo.’
