Thunder, formerly of MBLAQ, has announced a new chapter in his career.
On the 9th, Thunder shared a lengthy post on social media, writing, “It may be late, but today I want to share news of my new beginning.” Reflecting on his journey, he added, “It has been 16 years since I debuted with MBLAQ, taking on team activities, solo work, and acting. While many people chose different paths, I stayed because I love music, and I have never stepped away from it even for a single moment.”
He went on to confess that he had long struggled with the image of being an idol, saying, “The version of myself labeled as an idol felt like someone who wasn’t truly me. I spent a long time trying to shed that image and rediscover who I really am.”
Thunder explained that regardless of success or numbers, he has continued writing and releasing music as part of that journey. He revealed, “This past June, I founded MOOVE LABEL, a label that fully reflects my thoughts.” Thunder and his wife Mimi are currently signed under the label.
He added, “On the foundation of hip hop culture, I now want to hustle properly with music that truly represents who I am, not a manufactured image. Please watch what’s to come.”
Thunder debuted in 2009 as a member of MBLAQ and is also known as the younger brother of 2NE1’s Sandara Park. He later expanded into acting through dramas such as JTBC’s ‘Padam Padam’ and MBC’s ‘Make a Woman Cry.’
After appearing on Mnet’s ‘Show Me the Money 11’ in 2022, he has continued his activities as a rapper. In 2024, he married former Gugudan member Mimi after five years of dating.
