ENHYPEN’s Sunoo received the Minister of Foreign Affairs Award at the 2025 Korea Social Contribution Awards, held on December 23 KST at the Korea Press Center.
Sunoo was recognized for spreading positive influence through consistent donations, charitable acts, and volunteer work, as well as for expanding the value of giving by encouraging a culture of philanthropy not only as an individual but also within his fandom.
The Korea Social Contribution Awards aim to discover, honor, and promote individuals who have made meaningful contributions across various sectors of society, with the goal of fostering a healthier and happier community. Supported by ten government ministries and public institutions including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the awards marked their 20th anniversary this year.
Attending the ceremony, Sunoo said, “There are so many people who are far more deserving than me, so I feel a bit shy receiving such a big award.” He continued, “I started donating simply because I wanted to help as many people as I could, but this honor also makes me feel a stronger sense of responsibility to be someone who can bring positive change to society. I will continue to share warmth and kindness without losing this mindset.”
Sunoo donated funds to Samsung Medical Center on two occasions last December and more recently. The contributions were used to support patient treatment costs, the hospital’s Patient Happiness Fund, and psychological and emotional support programs for pediatric and adolescent patients. He also extended immediate assistance earlier this year to help with recovery efforts and support for victims affected by large-scale wildfires.
Notably, Sunoo’s acts of kindness sparked the spread of the so-called “ENHYPEN Sunoo Challenge” across social media platforms. Inspired by his example, ENGENEs (the fandom name) voluntarily participated in donations and shared their actions online, creating a virtuous cycle of giving.
Meanwhile, ENHYPEN is set to release their seventh mini album THE SIN : VANISH on January 16. Through this album, the group will tell the story of a vampire couple who chooses to flee for love amid anxiety. With meticulously connected tracks, lyrics, and sound, the album will further bring to life ENHYPEN’s signature dark fantasy narrative.
