On November 30 KST, Lee Si Young posted several photos and videos on her Instagram along with the caption, "Christmas has arrived at our home. And at last, the final version of Sssik Sssik’s born art has arrived. A beautiful Christmas card and frame we’ll be keeping forever. Thank you."
The photos show Lee Si Young’s newborn daughter dressed in a Santa hat and outfit, posed among Christmas ornaments, a tree, and gift boxes as part of the completed 'born art' shoot. These images were also made into cards and framed pieces, which could be seen displayed throughout her home.
This upload reignited ongoing discussions surrounding the growing trend of newborns being styled for “born art,” a practice that has sparked controversy for making a baby appear more like a decorative object.
Earlier on November 21 KST, Lee Si Young had shared a born art video featuring her 17-day-old baby dressed in a Santa outfit and placed inside a Christmas ornament box. She introduced the shoot with the caption, "How about me as this year’s Christmas ornament?" presenting it as a cute and festive idea.
However, some netizens immediately raised concerns, commenting, "It’s uncomfortable to see a newborn styled like a decoration," and "The setup feels excessive," among other reactions. Conversely, others defended her, saying, "Born art is a common newborn photography style," "It’s a standard technique done safely with proper support," and "It’s simply a photo celebrating birth."
As opinions clashed, Lee Si Young deleted the video the following day and did not release any further statement.
Now, with Lee Si Young reposting the completed 'born art' photos, netizens are once again responding with mixed opinions.
Some wrote, "The photos are adorable," and "Turning them into cards makes it even more touching," while others commented, "There was controversy before — she didn’t have to post it again," and "This will probably spark the same debate."
