Rapper Jung Sang Soo apologized after shouting a pro–Yoon Suk Yeol slogan during a festival at Choongam High School in Seoul, saying he made a political comment that should not have been made on stage.
On Nov. 1, 2025 KST, Jung Sang Soo posted an apology video on Instagram, bowing his head and explaining how the moment unfolded: “During the Oct. 31, 2025 KST Choongam High School festival, I made a political remark that should never have been made on that stage. I am deeply sorry for the trouble I caused to the principal, teachers and staff, and students.” He added, “I don’t usually take a left or right political stance, and I’m not well-versed in politics. While interviewing a student on stage, that name came up. I tried to make it a fun, recreation-style segment, but I got carried away and said something I shouldn’t have. I was a hundred, a thousand times in the wrong. Please direct all criticism to me, and I will take full responsibility.”
In a separate written statement, Jung Sang Soo said, “It was an inappropriate political comment in a public setting. It was something that should never have been said in front of students who simply came to enjoy the festival. The remark was not coordinated with the school; it was purely my personal comment.”

The controversy flared after video of Jung Sang Soo’s Oct. 31 appearance spread online. In the clip, he invites a student on stage and asks, “What is Choongam High School most proud of?” When the student answers, “Yoon Suk Yeol,” Jung Sang Soo replies, “I was holding back from saying that too. Then I’ll say it as well,” before twice shouting “Yoon again.” The phrase is known as a slogan used by supporters hoping for Yoon Suk Yeol’s return to office.
As criticism mounted, the Choongam High School student council clarified that the remark “does not represent the stance of the school or the festival, nor was it requested or agreed upon in advance,” calling it the performer’s personal comment and asking people to refrain from blaming the school or students.
Jung Sang Soo debuted in 2009 and rose to public recognition through ‘Show Me the Money’ on Mnet. He has previously faced legal issues involving drunken disturbances, assault, drunk driving, property damage, insult, defamation, and obstruction of official duties.
