ILLIT’s agency has declared a strict zero-tolerance stance toward malicious commenters who have been spreading defamatory content about the group.
On November 14, BELIFT LAB stated, “We have identified a recent surge in malicious posts targeting ILLIT and individual members.” The agency added that some members are still minors, yet continue to face malicious defamation through anonymous online communities.
BELIFT LAB explained that it will strengthen monitoring efforts and respond more rigorously to all forms of harmful content. This includes insults, defamation, slanderous posts, and the spread of false information that constitutes illegal activity.
“We will respond to all unlawful actions without any leniency or settlements,” the agency stated. “In accordance with relevant laws, we will do our utmost to ensure that those responsible face criminal penalties.”
ILLIT has endured a year-long wave of malicious comments. The situation intensified when former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin and the NewJeans team mentioned ILLIT during their conflict with HYBE. Some NewJeans fans then began posting hostile comments on ILLIT’s videos and articles.
Min Hee jin claimed that ILLIT plagiarized the formula used for NewJeans by copying their debut process, concept, photoshoots, album design, choreography, and styling. She also stated that NewJeans member Hanni was told to “ignore it” by an ILLIT manager and brought up this claim during a National Assembly audit.
However, the court dismissed all related allegations. On October 30, during the ruling on ADOR and NewJeans' lawsuit regarding the validity of their exclusive contract, the court did not recognize claims of imitation by ILLIT or the manager’s alleged remark.
ILLIT is scheduled to release their first single album 'NOT CUTE ANYMORE' on November 24.
