Episode 6 of SBS’s weekend drama ‘Would You Marry Me?’ is under fire after a sequence many viewers say glamorized illegal filming and sidelined its female doctor during an emergency.
In the Oct. 25, 2025 KST broadcast, family-medicine specialist Yoon Jin Gyeong (played by Shin Seul Gi) performs CPR on a jogger in cardiac arrest. A man is shown secretly recording her. Baek Sang Hyeon (Bae Na Ra) notices, drapes his coat over Yoon Jin Gyeong with the remark, "Cover up," and takes over chest compressions. He later grabs the voyeur, seizes the phone, recites penalties—“illegal surreptitious filming: up to seven years in prison, fines up to about 36,000 USD”—then adds, “Looks like it’s your first time, so I’ll let it slide. Next time, no mercy,” before deleting the footage.

Clips of the scene spread quickly online, drawing sharp criticism for broadcasting blatantly sexualized camera angles and, more pointedly, for having a male character “warn and release” a suspect instead of turning him over to police. Typical comments ran, “What sentiment is this writing chasing?” “You report a crime—you don’t just seize a phone and walk away,” and “The woman bears the harm while a male character makes the final call. That framing is offensive.”
The main romance between Kim Woo Ju (Choi Woo Sik) and Yoo Merry (Jung So Min) has kept ‘Would You Marry Me?’ atop Saturday mini-series rankings. But backlash over the Shin Seul Gi–Bae Na Ra subplot’s illegal-filming sequence is intensifying, and many are watching to see whether the production offers an explanation or edits future airings.
