Soyou has once again claimed that she was subjected to racial discrimination on a U.S. airline and also refuted the allegations that she was heavily intoxicated during the flight.
On October 19, Soyou posted her boarding pass on social media, writing, "I couldn't eat anything during the flight, which was over 15 hours long. That experience left a deep wound stemming from racial prejudice."
According to Soyou, she boarded a flight from Atlanta to Korea on the 17th (U.S. time). She requested a Korean flight attendant to check the meal time. However, the cabin manager took issue with Soyou's attitude.
She stated, "The cabin manager judged my attitude and treated me like a problematic passenger. They suddenly called security," and added, "I had to endure cold stares and attitudes throughout the flight. At that moment, I thought, 'Is this racial discrimination?'"
However, witnesses presented a situation different from Soyou's claims. Posts mentioned, "Soyou, in a heavily intoxicated state, said she wouldn't eat (the meal)," "Soyou herself said, 'I'm a little drunk,'" and "Security did not come."
The conflicting testimonies led to a dispute over the truth. Soyou re-stated her position on the afternoon of October 20. She emphasized, "I only consumed a small amount of alcohol at the lounge before boarding, and I boarded without any sanctions or issues." This indicated that her drinking was not a problem.
Soyou explained, "I always check the meal schedule to manage my condition. Since my English is not perfect enough to communicate fully, the conversation was difficult. During the process of making this request, perhaps it was misinterpreted, and the purser and a security officer came."
She said that things that made her feel humiliated continued even after that. Although she moved to the side of the aisle for the cart to pass, the purser adopted an aggressive attitude, telling her to 'get out,' and did not apologize.
She lamented, "The flight attendant who helped me in Korean repeatedly apologized, but I am still embarrassed and disappointed by everything that happened after boarding, and the cold stares and attitude that continued throughout the flight."
She continued, stating that she "did not write the post for compensation or to expose anyone," but "mustered the courage to write, hoping that no one else would have to experience what I did. I hope that untrue information is not exaggerated."
Finally, she apologized, "I would like to apologize to the passengers who were inconvenienced by the incident that occurred on the plane because of me."
