A 40-year-old singer and announcer has been formally charged and detained for allegedly killing her teenage daughter.
According to Newsis on October 21, the Jinju Branch of Changwon District Prosecutors’ Office, Criminal Division 2, led by Chief Prosecutor Lee Hye Hyun, indicted the woman, identified only as A, on charges of murder for allegedly killing her 18-year-old daughter.
A is accused of physically assaulting her daughter at their home in Namhae, South Gyeongsang Province, on September 22. Investigations indicate that during the incident, she allegedly beat her daughter and poured hot water on her scalp, causing lacerations and burns. The victim, a university student currently on leave, had been working alongside her mother in broadcasting equipment rentals at the time.
Reports state that the daughter, suffering from severe pain, was left in a car for over two days before ultimately succumbing to her injuries. Upon her arrival at a local hospital in Namhae, emergency medical staff noticed suspicious injuries on the girl’s body and immediately alerted the police.
A is known for her career as a singer and announcer in the Gyeongnam region and has also been active as a YouTuber.
