Kangnam recently spoke up about suspicions that his YouTube channel's videos were staged.
On the October 9 episode of MBC’s variety show 'Where Is My Home?' (Episode 319), Kangnam appeared as a guest alongside otolaryngologist and web novel writer Lee Nak Joon, whose work inspired Netflix’s original drama 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.'
During the broadcast, Kangnam shared updates about running his YouTube channel, which has around 1.25 million subscribers. He admitted that his content often revolves around teasing his wife, former speed skater Lee Sang Hwa, and humbly credited her for the channel’s success, saying, "Sang Hwa’s contribution is about 95%."
One of his most popular content is eating Ramyun as a late-night snack behind Lee Sang Hwa's back. In the content, Kangnam tries to cook and eat Ramyun without making noise that would wake Sang Hwa. She has been concerned about Kangnam's health and would become upset finding him eating instant noodles, especially late at night.
However, Kangnam has been accused of staging such videos over the years. So, he firmly denied allegations that he scripts or stages videos in advance, saying, "Sang Hwa is a former athlete—she can’t act at all. There are about 12 videos we couldn’t upload because she looked really serious or reacted too strongly."
When comedian Jang Dong Min joked, “You should collect those and release them as paid subscription content,” Kangnam burst out laughing and replied, “You’re teaching bad ideas to your junior!”
