Former 'Boys II Planet' contestant Sun Heng Yu is in the spotlight again after he recently gave a personal account ofthe incident.
On October 3, footage of the former contestant allegedly assisting in the subjugation of a drunken civilian went viral on social media. In the short clips that spread across the web, Sun Heng Yu is seen running to aid a group of people to stop a man from assaulting another man.
The following day, Sun Heng Yu posted a message to fans through Instagram story assuring them that he was not hurt in the process. He also held an Instagram live session where he shared the details of the incident and explained why he went to help.
He shared, "So I was helping the person (who was already there to stop the man) to break up the fight. But the man (drunk man) was out of control. Maybe because he was extremely drunk, he kept saying things like 'Why are you pushing me?' and then kicked the first person's son." He continued, "At that moment, I thought the priority was to subdue him and keep him from moving, so I held him down. The son tried to use a Jiu-Jitsu move that would have broken his ankle. I recognized the technique and stopped him, telling him not to break it. I just wanted nobody to get hurt, that's why I went to help."
However, this incident is garnering attention again after 'Crime Chief' accused Sun Heng Yu of choking the drunk man in the process of oppressing a drunk man, sparking anger among fans. These fans commented, "I watched 'Crime Chief' because Sun Heng Yu was mentioned, and they did really say he was the trainee who choked the man," and "It was the man with the white shirt who choked the man and tried to break the man's ankle. Heng Yu stopped that man, telling him not to choke...I've been going around saying 100 times that he wasn't the one who choked the man. Just don't release it on the news if they're going to investigate it like this."
Meanwhile, Sun Heng Yu debuted as a member of the K-pop boy group BLANK2Y in May of 2022. Following the group's disbandment in 2023, the idol appeared as a contestant on Mnet's 'Boys II Planet' to pursue his lost dream one more time.
