Former WJSN (Cosmic Girls) member Cheng Xiao has surprised Korean fans with her noticeably changed appearance during recent activities in China.
Several photos of Cheng Xiao, shared widely across online communities, show a look that is markedly different from her time in the group. In the images, her eyes, nose, and areas around her mouth appear noticeably swollen, making it difficult to clearly recognize her facial features despite her bangs and smoky eye makeup.
The photos were taken on July 19, when Cheng Xiao participated in a music festival. Her appearance sparked debate among local fans, with some speculating about possible cosmetic procedures. However, local media reports clarified that Cheng Xiao had recently been receiving medication for low blood pressure, which caused swelling as a side effect. The situation was reportedly worsened by three consecutive days of filming and frequent travel for local events.
Cheng Xiao herself addressed the situation, explaining, “I stayed up all night playing games and eating takeout, so the swelling is severe,” adding that she tends to have a naturally puffy appearance. Subsequent photos shared by Cheng Xiao show her with a more familiar look, closely resembling her appearance during her activities in Korea.
Cheng Xiao was a member of WJSN from 2016 to 2023 and has since returned to China to focus on her individual career.
