The once highly anticipated drama starring Ma Dong Seok, 'Twelve,' has once again hit another low rating.
According to Nielsen Korea, the latest episode of KBS 2TV’s weekend drama 'Twelve,' which aired on September 7, recorded a nationwide viewership rating of 2.6%.
Starting strong with 8.1% in its first episode, 'Twelve' saw a sharp drop to 5.9% in episode 2, and the declining trend continued, falling into the 2% range.
'Twelve' is an action-hero drama about twelve angels who fight against evil forces to protect the human world. Ma Dong Seok, a "box office guarantee" in the action-comedy genre known for the 'Roundup' film series, takes the lead.

At the drama’s press conference, Ma Dong Seok highlighted its appeal, saying, "It’s a drama featuring the chemistry and characters of twelve angels, along with the resulting action. Thrilling fantasy action like this hasn’t really been seen on TV, I think." He added, "I’m not really focused on ratings, but I hope people watch it enjoyably."
While episode 1 reflected Ma Dong Seok’s recognition and audience anticipation, achieving ratings in the 8% range, viewers noted shortcomings in key fantasy elements such as computer graphics, which contributed to the subsequent ratings decline.
For Ma Dong Seok, 'Twelve' marks his first drama in nine years since the OCN series 'Squad 38' in 2016, and the ratings result is a stark contrast to his string of blockbuster films.

'Twelve’s performance is further highlighted when compared to tvN’s weekend drama 'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,' which premiered the same day. 'Bon Appétit, Your Majesty' started with a nationwide rating of 4.9% and has steadily climbed, reaching an average of 12.7% by episode 6, setting a record high with every episode.
With only two episodes remaining in its eight-episode run, attention is now on how 'Twelve' will conclude amid the lukewarm response.
