According to a MyDaily report on September 13, Oh My Girl’s Mimi has been cast in the upcoming drama 'Private Taxi.' This will be her first attempt at acting in a scripted series.
Several members of Oh My Girl including Arin, Seunghee, Jiho, and YooA have already expanded their careers into acting. For Mimi, this marks a new step. Earlier this year she appeared on MBC’s 'Radio Star' where she expressed her strong desire to take on acting. She also showcased her skills by portraying Yeom Hye Ran’s character from Netflix’s 'When Life Gives You Tangerines.' Many viewers were surprised by her performance since she is often associated with her bright variety show image.
'Private Taxi' is described as a human healing music drama that follows the stories of passengers in a mysterious taxi service which only accepts reservations from regular customers. Each ride unfolds with the customer’s story and a song of their choice, offering empathy and comfort through music. The series blends diverse genres and generations of music into its storytelling. Guest characters bring their own concerns and perspectives in an omnibus format. With this structure the drama has potential for seasonal expansion and global appeal.
Actor Cha Tae Hyun will play Go, the taxi driver at the center of the story. Each episode will feature new guest stars as passengers whose lives and struggles become the focus. Based on the original work by Lee Mo Se, 'Private Taxi' will consist of eight episodes of 30 minutes each and will be produced as a mid-form series.
