
The Korean remake of the global hit 'The Intern' has officially begun filming today, September 29th(KST).
The confirmed lineup includes Choi Min Sik, Han So Hee, Kim Geum Soon, Kim Jun Han, Ryu Hye Young, Kim Yo Han, and Park Ye Ni.
'Intern' tells the story of Seon Woo (Han So Hee), a passionate CEO of a fashion company, who hires Gi Ho (Choi Min Sik), a senior intern with a wealth of life experience.
The film reinterprets the 2015 worldwide success 'The Intern' with Korean sensibility and contemporary context.
Choi Min Sik, celebrated for works such as 'Exhuma', 'Casino Season 1, 2', 'New World', 'Roaring Currents', and 'Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time', takes on the role of Gi Ho, a retiree starting a second chapter in life as a silver intern. He is expected to deliver a powerful and deeply nuanced performance.
Meanwhile, Han So Hee transforms into the charismatic and magnetic CEO of fashion company Woo22, which achieved a remarkable 10 Billion KRW in rapid sales. Known for roles in 'Project Y', 'Gyeongseong Creature Season 1, 2', 'My Name', and 'The World of the Married', she continues to expand her acting spectrum.
Adding to the ensemble, Kim Geum Soon, who impressed audiences in 'Yadang' and 'My Name is Loh Kiwan', plays Hee Sook, who runs the Woo22 cafeteria. Kim Jun Han, recognized for 'Good Partner' and 'Anna', joins as Young Hwan, Woo22’s vice president. Ryu Hye Young, known for her vibrant performances in 'Seocho-dong' and 'Law School', plays Min Ah, Gi Ho’s mentor and the head of business support. Kim Yo Han, praised as a scene-stealer in 'Mudo Clerk' and 'The Killer’s Shopping List', plays fellow recruit Joo Sung. Finally, Park Ye Ni, who recently appeared in 'The Girl Who Died' and 'Hundred Memories', joins as MD Yoo Jin.
The film is directed by Kim Do Young, acclaimed for 'Kim Ji Young, Born 1982'. Recognized with the 2020 Baeksang Arts Award for Best New Director and the Chunsa Film Festival Best New Director Award, Kim is known for her warm yet sharp directorial approach.
Expectations are high for how she will portray this generationally resonant story in 'Intern'.
