aespa’s NingNing has sparked conversation among fans and netizens after posting a cryptic message on her personal social media account on September 22nd KST. In the post, she asked, “Would it bother you if I deleted all my posts?” and included a poll with options “Yes” and “No.”
Following the overwhelming response from fans opposing the deletion, NingNing replied with a brief but loaded question: “Why?”
The timing of the post has fueled speculation, as aespa recently came under fire for lip-syncing during their performance of "Rich Man” on Good Morning America on the 13th. Critics claimed the group’s stage presence and vocal execution fell short of expectations for a major U.S. broadcast. Some members’ dancing abilities also drew negative commentary.
This isn’t the first time aespa has faced backlash over lip-syncing. In 2022, the group was criticized for performing all four songs with pre-recorded vocals at Korea University’s festival. The controversy resurfaced online with one commenter writing, “That was the first time I saw lip-syncing at a college festival. Is it right to cheer for that?”
Despite the criticism, aespa continues strong promotional activities for their 6th mini album, 'Rich Man,' which was released on July 5. The album surpassed 1.11 million pre-orders, marking the group’s seventh consecutive million-seller. It also topped iTunes Top Album Charts in 14 regions, claimed No. 1 across China’s QQ Music, Kugou, and Tencent Music charts, and earned Platinum Certification (over 1 million yuan in sales). In Japan, the album soared to No. 1 on AWA’s real-time rising chart.
aespa will embark on an arena tour beginning October 4–5 in Fukuoka, with additional stops in Tokyo, Aichi, Bangkok, Osaka, and more. Each stop will feature venues with a capacity exceeding 10,000 seats.
