Son Ye Jin has addressed the sudden disappearance of her secondary Instagram account amid speculation linked to a recent controversy.
On the morning of August 27th, fans noticed that Son’s private sub-account, previously active under the username @yejinfoot_official, was no longer accessible. Attempting to visit the page now leads to a default message: “Sorry, this page isn’t available.” The closure sparked widespread curiosity.
Originally launched in June, the account had become a beloved space where Son Ye Jin shared candid moments from her daily life, including humorous selfies and glimpses of motherhood. The playful username, referencing her surname “Son” and the word “foot,” added to its charm. Her official account had only followed this one, which now leaves her “following” count at zero.
Speculation grew that the account’s removal was tied to recent backlash from a misinterpreted anecdote shared during a press conference for the upcoming film ‘Because It’s Inevitable’, where Son Ye Jin stars opposite Lee Byung Hun as a married couple.
At the event, Son spoke about playing a mother for the first time since giving birth in 2022, saying:
“Being with my child made the role feel natural. I wanted to show a warm, responsible mother figure.”
In response, Lee Byung Hun jokingly recalled an on-set story:
“There were child actors playing our kids in the film. One of them would keep asking questions during filming, but Son Ye Jin never responded. When I asked her why, she said, ‘That’s your responsibility. I need to focus on my emotions.’”
Though shared in a lighthearted tone, the quote quickly spread online and led to accusations that Son Ye Jin had neglected the child actors—dubbed by some as an “arrogance toward child actors” scandal.
To clarify the misunderstanding, the mother of child actress Choi So Yul took to social media, writing:
“It was a funny, lighthearted behind-the-scenes moment. We were confused by how it spread. The truth is, she was very kind.”
An old post resurfaced showing Son Ye Jin sending a rare, hard-to-find doll as a gift to the young actress. The mother had previously written, “Even Santa couldn’t get this toy—but Son Ye Jin did. Best Christmas gift ever.”
Shortly after the private account’s disappearance, Son Ye Jin posted an update from the airport as she departed for the Venice International Film Festival:
“Finally departing! It’s my first time to visit the Venice International Film Festival. I’m soooo excited. See you in Venice looking fabulous!”
Alongside a cheerful airport lounge photo with Lee Byung Hun and Park Hee Soon, she added:
“Were you surprised that my sub-account disappeared? I don’t know what happened either~ I’ll try to recover it soon.”
Her response appears to indirectly address rumors linking the account’s removal to the earlier controversy—suggesting it may have been a technical issue rather than a deliberate shutdown due to public pressure.
