Former TVXQ and JYJ member Park Yoochun has once again sparked controversy and concern among fans after revealing his latest appearance online, which many say is a far cry from his past visuals.
On August 1, Park Yoochun posted a selfie on his personal channel with the caption "Osaka, are you ready?" In the photo, he is seen staring into the camera with silver hair in what appears to be a Japanese hair salon. His face, free of heavy styling or makeup, gave off a noticeably different aura, prompting fans to express shock over his changed appearance.
Comments such as "I couldn’t recognize him" and "You can’t fight time" reflected the disappointment and surprise from netizens regarding his aged and more natural look.
Despite past controversies, Park Yoochun has been steadily resuming activities in Japan. Earlier this year in February, he held an exclusive fan signing event with expensive ticket prices and recently released a new song, signaling an active return to the entertainment scene overseas.
However, his comeback continues to be mired in controversy. Park previously received a 10-month prison sentence with a two-year suspension for illegal drug use. At the time, he declared his retirement from the entertainment industry but reversed that decision just a year later and resumed his career.
Adding to the criticism, Park was listed last year by South Korea’s National Tax Service as a habitual high-amount tax delinquent. He reportedly owes around 490 million KRW (approximately $375,000).
Now back on stage in Japan, Park Yoochun’s efforts to rebuild his career continue to draw both support and skepticism. With his past scandals still casting a shadow, public attention remains focused on how his next chapter will unfold and whether he can reclaim trust and popularity in the long run.
