GOT7's Yugyeom will enlist in the military band on September 29.
He recently received final confirmation of his acceptance as a special soldier from the Military Manpower Administration. Following basic training, he will serve in the military band to fulfill his mandatory service.
On August 24, his agency AOMG announced the news through its official social media accounts. The agency stated that the date and location of the enlistment ceremony will not be disclosed to avoid crowding.

Yugyeom also personally shared a handwritten letter on Instagram to inform his fans. He wrote, "I wanted to share with you before anyone that I will enlist in the military to serve our country in good health." He added, "I'll make sure to be unharmed. Please listen to my songs and think of me while I'm away." He also reassured fans by saying, "I’ll come back soon with a cooler, better album, always showing improvement and growth."
As GOT7's youngest member, Yugyeom has continued to grow musically while balancing group and solo activities. In 2021, he joined AOMG, the hip-hop label founded by Jay Park, as a solo artist and has built a distinctive career with his own musical color. Most recently, he successfully completed his 'TRUSTY' world tour, solidifying his presence as a global solo artist.

In June, Yugyeom released his second full-length solo album, 'Interlunar,' which gained major popularity. Through its lyrics, he likened the upcoming hiatus from military service to "the period between the waning and waxing moons when the moon is invisible." The album includes 10 tracks, featuring double title songs "Interlunar" and "Shall We Dance," with contributions from artists such as Hoody and Gaeko, enhancing its quality.
Yugyeom will be the third GOT7 member to enlist in the military.
Earlier this year, Yugyeom participated in GOT7’s full-group comeback album 'WINTER HEPTAGON' and held large-scale concerts in Korea and Thailand, giving fans a final farewell as a GOT7 member before enlistment.
