Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon are set to showcase a romance that transcends an 18-year age gap in the upcoming drama 'Annoying Love.'
On August 1, tvN unveiled photos from the script reading session for its new Monday–Tuesday drama 'Annoying Love,' featuring the main cast including Lee Jung Jae, Lim Ji Yeon, Seo Ji Hye, and Kim Ji Hoon.
'Annoying Love' tells the story of a top national actor who has lost his passion and an elite journalist who has lost her position. As they overcome their prejudices, they embark on a journey of mutual growth. Set against the backdrop of the entertainment industry, where scandals break out daily, the drama promises a fresh mix of humor, empathy, and heart-fluttering romance through the fiery love-hate relationship between a top star and a celebrity journalist.
The drama boasts a star-studded cast. Lee Jung Jae, who gained global fame with 'Squid Game,' joins Lim Ji Yeon, beloved for her roles in 'The Glory' and 'The Tale of Lady Ok.' Notably, this marks Lee Jung Jae's return to television after six years since JTBC's 'Chief of Staff' in 2019.
The script reading was led by director Kim Ga Ram, known for 'Good Partner' and 'Nevertheless,' and writer Jung Yeo Rang of 'Doctor Cha.' The script reading was filled with lively energy as the powerhouse cast gathered, including Lee Jung Jae, Lim Ji Yeon, Kim Ji Hoon, Seo Ji Hye, Choi Gwi Hwa, Jeon Sung Woo, Kim JAe Chul, Na Young Hee, Jeon So Kyung, Kim Hyun Jin, Jin Ho Eun, Kim Beop Rae, Jo Hee Bong, and special guest Oh Yeon Seo.
Lee Jung Jae takes on the role of Im Hyun Joon, the national actor specializing in detective roles, but dreams of becoming the king of melodramas. Lim Ji Yeon plays Wi Jung Shin, a journalist who loses her position after being caught in a major corruption scandal. Once a star political reporter who was the youngest person to win the journalist award, she was suddenly reassigned to the entertainment desk, setting the stage for a comical plot.
Kim Ji Hoon transforms into Lee Jae Hyung, a former baseball player turned president of the sports daily Sports Eunseong. Though kind to everyone, he is devoted to one woman, Wi Jung Shin. Seo Ji Hye transformed into Yoon Hwa Young, the youngest-ever head of the entertainment department at Sports Eunseong and Lee Jae Hyung’s ex-lover. Known for her sharp wit that can even knock down Wi Jung Shin, Seo Ji Hye is set to deliver a performance brimming with cool yet gentle charisma.
Choi Gwi Hwa plays CEO Hwang, Lee Jung Jae's character's manager since his debut, adding a dose of delightful bromance to the series. Jeon Sung Woo becomes Park Byung Gi, the writer who turned Lee Jung Jae's character into a national star. Kim Jae Chul heightens the tension in the drama, transforming into Lee Dae Ho, Lee Jung Jae's half-brother and a ruthless entertainment industry businessman. Special guest Oh Yeon Seo is to play Kwon Se Na, a global star from Lee Jung Jae's past.
Na Young Hee portrays Sung Ae Sook, a 1970s sex symbol and Lee Jung Jae’s mother, while Jeon Soo Kyung plays Oh Mi Ran, Kim Ji Hoon’s mother and a wealthy actress married into a chaebol family.
Kim Hyun Jin joins as Im Sun Woo, Lee Jung Jae’s younger brother, and a medical student with a passion for acting. Jin Ho Eun plays Wi Hong Shin, Lim Ji Yeon’s much younger brother and aspiring actor. Kim Beop Rae appears as Director Hong, a pragmatic member of Sports Eunseong, while Jo Hee Bong plays CEO Son, head of the production company for 'Good Cop Kang Pil Goo,' further enriching the story.
tvN’s new Monday–Tuesday drama 'Annoying Love' is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2025.
